Light team lead first period 3-2. Dark team tied it 8-8 in 2nd. Dark team won 15-13

Player of the game goes to Mike due to his knack for finding the back of the net over and over again. Honorable mention goes to Jeremy who stepped into goal for the white team and was phenomenal. Weston played a strong game for the dark team and stopped numerous breakaways.

This week will be featuring the return of the Slovak attack (Rado and Maros) as well as the beautiful (scoring machine) Naghmeh. So make it a point to be there if you can. I know I’m looking forward to taking them on again.

As always, please check in >>

Last Saturday we had a fine 4 on 4 half court game with Mike and Tim taking turns in goal. We had a lot of new faces there and I’m looking forward to seeing more this week.

This Saturday we’ll be playing hockey at 7pm. Sorry, there won’t be any cameras there this time.

Remember to checkin so we can have an idea of who will be showing up (3 more people and we have a full-court game).

This past Saturday we played our first 3 period full-court game in some time and it was a good one. With both Duke and The Tominator in from out of town, and the AZ Daily Star there to photograph our every move, we played well into the cold night. Both Stephanie and Tom were fantastic in goal and in rare fashion only 9 goals were scored all night. As luck would have it for the white team this 9th goal was scored by Duke (defender on the dark team) as he was clearing the ball after a barrage of shots by Bob and Tim.

Final score: White team 5, Dark team 4

Player of the game would have gone to Duke for his shut-down defense, but his last-second lapse disqualifies him. So instead it’s a tie between Stephanie and The Tominator for their outstanding play in goal. Honorable mention goes to Ben for scoring 3 goals and leading the white team’s early run on the scoreboard.

Keep your stick on the ice and check the AZ Daily Star in a few days for a visual recap of this game!

Our first game of 2008 was a great one as the Slovaks were back in the country and Will made his long awaited return to the PSHL. Stephanie played a strong game in net, but precise passing from Weston to Rado & Maros was too much and the dark team came away with a clear victory.

Great game guys, it was a lot of fun!

Last Saturday we had a really close 3 on 3 game with Stephanie in goal. Player of the game goes to Greg who showed his versatility by playing strong D while knocking in 5 goals! Honorable mention goes to Luke who made his first PSHL appearance and used his long reach to create a number of turnovers.

http://www.pimastreethockey.com/checkin/

This past Saturday we had a special match with opponents from Seattle. Here is what they had to say about The Battle Of The Desert:

————–

Last weekend, Peto, Kevin, Koh, Dan, Chuck, Billy and I represented Seattle against Tucson’s Pima Street Hockey League in the first Battle of the Desert. Their side was represented by Bob, Weston, Jennifer, David, Will, Blake and Stephanie in net (I’m probably missing a couple).

First, I gotta say Tucson has an ideal court for street hockey. About 120′X60′ smooth concrete playing surface complete with boards! I need to get Seattle to build us one of those.

The game started pretty even. Their half court offside rule threw Peto’s game off, (shocking I know), Saliba got his calf branded by Will’s slapshot bom and we traded a couple goals. In the second period, Seattle then put the game in the superior gear. Chuck got out of his funk from a poor showing in the afternoon golf game, Peto started to hit the net and Dan stayed solid in net. We stopped keeping score.

After games beer were had at the indescribable Meet Rack where we met the self proclaimed God. Makes the old Ed’s Kortaus is tame in comparison.

Fun weekend. Koh added to his legend. Let’s plan to do this again soon. Sin city tournament on 2/9-2/10 anyone?

Here’s a couple pics (notice the awesome chicken wire nets)

Wednesday’s game is ON. Be there around 7pm for what should be a fine night of Halloween hockey! Costumes are welcome… for instance I’ll be dressed as Daniel Brière.

———————— R e m i n d e r ————————
The Seattle game is only 10 days away. So lets get a good showing so we can be on top of our game for the northwestern invasion on Saturday, November 10th!
——————————————————————–

This past game was a competitive four on four match. The first two periods were close as Weston kept the score extremely low, however Ben exploded for a flurry of goals in the 3rd period to win his first (I believe) PSHL Player of the Game mention.
